Running Course Assist Part 2: Creating a logo and setting up social media pages

A logo is an essential feature for every business or organization. A logo is a visual symbol that identifies and represents a business or organization. The Course Assist logo is one that I took quite some time thinking about🙄. I had to decide whether I'd design one myself or hire someone and in the end I decided to go for designing one myself. Why I did do this? Course Assist like I said in the previous blog is a budget project, one that'll only spend money where necessary. After looking at a couple of logo and brand designers some with decent prices and others with exaggerated prices, I figured it'll be cheaper and better to just create one myself plus logo design is a skill that honestly would not hurt to know😅.

My logo-creating process can be divided into 2 parts:

1. Brainstorming and Designing🧠: The whole concept behind the Course Assist project design is simplicity. Being a budget project and one that's going to be used by students I've tried to keep its design as minimalistic as possible and for the logo I followed the same concept. For the Course Assist logo, I decided to go for a wordmark logo which is just a type of logo design that is composed primarily of text, typically using a specific typeface or font, something that's pretty and clearly identifies the app.

2. Creating👨‍💻: Again because Course Assist is a budget project I decided to use a free simple software tool for creating the logo as opposed to an expensive paid complicated software😄. I used Canva for this, a simple straightforward graphic design tool. Since it was a simple wordmark logo I was creating all I had to do was chose a special font though I had to sit through hundreds of them before picking the right one🙄 and then choose a special shade of green for text which matches the app's main color theme. I then reduced the spacing in the text a little and voilà the Course Assist logo was born.

Social Media Pages📱

Utilizing social media as a tool for marketing your business can be very beneficial. Because of this I also decided to set up social pages for Course Assist. I created an Instagram, Twitter and Facebook page for Course Assist. These pages will help in maintaining the Course Assist presence on all major platforms and also provide an avenue for serious advertising through their respective adverting platforms which are Meta ads and Twitter ads.

With Course Assist now having a logo and social media presence on all major social platforms we're now on track for the official launch of the project, something you'll not want to miss out on so make sure you stay tuned to the blog. Thanks for reading and see you in the next one.🙏
